Small Business Owners and Corporate Employees
Here are some of the creative ways businesses Every Wednesday is “Hands and Hearts Day”, now through September 11th, at the IHOP at 2508 N. Central in Phoenix, AZ. Ruben and Pam Heeneman are the first restaurant owners to get on the Hands and Hearts line. They are supporting this event by selling T-shirts, spreading the word to their customers with flyers and by word of mouth, and by accepting donations in a box at the register. Ruben and Pam even bought T-shirts and caps for all of their employees to wear on “Hands and Hearts Day”. We hope all of the small business owners will join Ruben and Pam and their IHOP family as the Hands and Hearts line travels through Central Phoenix. Pensacola Knights Inn of Pensacola, FL is not anywhere near the route but they are “on the line” with Hands and Hearts. Gaby and Patrick Burger are the owners of Pensacola Knights Inn and all of their employees own a Hands and Hearts T-shirt, thanks to their generosity. We hope that they will be staging a mini “Hands and Hearts” event around their motel on 9/11. Employees of large corporations like UPS are rallying to be a part of the Hands and Hearts line on 9/11. Major corporations have put info and web links onto their intranets so that their employees will have the chance to hear about this wonderful event. The UPS SW District Community Services group is organizing to cover sections of the route in AZ and NM with both volunteers and participants. They are spreading the word via the intranet and with posters and flyers placed at their corporate offices. They are encouraging the employees and the family members of UPS to help support the event by purchasing event merchandise. Small business owners across the state, and along the route, have donated goods and services. We have received printing services, copy services, design services and pro bono advice and council from an array small business owners and firms. We truly appreciate all of the help we have been given. These donations have allowed us to keep going as we build momentum. “Cash and Carry” T-shirt locations have popped up across the country. Small business owners are using their public business locations as “Cash and Carry” T-shirt stores. These generous business owners are displaying our merchandise and sharing the project with their customers. They have signed up a lot of volunteers and participants, too. “Short and Short Karaoke DJ Service” takes our T-shirts on location with them. Now, that’s creative! Get your corporation "on the line" today. Whether you head a multi-million dollar company with hundreds of employees or you lead an energentic team in a successful small business, becoming a part of the Hands and Hearts United in Memory September 11th human chain is a great decision. As you can see, there are many innovative and creative ways that you and your employees can become involved.
