Assistant National Director of Pledge Management:

¨      Creates procedures for accepting participant pledges

(Web site and 1-800 Number)

¨      Works with web designer to create programs to support procedures

¨      Researches costs of 1-800 number

¨      Sets up 1-800 informational message and reporting structure

¨      Implements reporting procedures and conducts test runs

¨      Develops procedures for National and Local Pledge Managers

¨      Accepts pledge reports from Webmaster and 1-800 number daily

¨      Prepares and distributes reports to National Staff Members

¨      Recruits National and Local Pledge Managers, as needed

¨      Oversees activity of National and Local Pledge Managers

¨      Reports directly to National Director

National Pledge Manager:

National Support Staff Member

 

¨      Follows procedures laid out by Assistant National Director of Pledge Management to assist with compiling daily pledge reports

¨      Reports to Assistant National Director of Pledge Management

Local Pledge Manager:

Recruit as needed

National Support Staff Member

 

¨      Follows procedures laid out by Assistant National Director of Pledge Management to recruit local organizations; including schools, churches, youth and civic organizations, and corporations, etc., to pledge their group’s participation.

¨      Reports to Assistant National Director of Pledge Management

 

ü      This is a volunteer position.

 

Assistant National Director of Public Relations:

Recruit:  ASAP

National Level Staff Member

 

¨      Recruits Celebrity Relations Manager and Advertising Manager

¨      Assists executive board in recruiting Webmaster

¨      Oversees all national and local press releases

¨      Oversees advertising campaign

¨      Books all interviews/appearances on the National Level

¨      Travels with interviewees, on an as needed basis

¨      Oversees activity of Celebrity Relations Manager and Advertising Manager

¨      Reports directly to National Director

Celebrity Relations Manager:

Recruit:  ASAP

National Support Staff Member

 

¨      Recruits Celebrity Support for the project; I.E.:  public endorsements, personal participation and financial donations

¨      Recruits Musical Entertainment for specific locations along the route

¨      Reports to Assistant National Director of Public Relations

Advertising Manager:

Recruit:  ASAP

National Support Staff Member

 

¨      Plans advertising campaigns

¨      Scripts all adds and oversees their production

¨      Prepares press releases

¨      Negotiates advertising space/time and makes recommendations to the Executive Board

¨      Reports to Assistant National Director of Public Relations

Assistant National Director of Fundraising

Recruit:  ASAP

National Level Staff Member

 

¨      Solicits corporate and private donations of money or services

¨      Develops and oversees merchandise fundraising program

¨      Works closely with bookkeeper and Executive Board Treasurer

¨      Recruits volunteer assistance, as needed

¨      Reports directly to National Director

Merchandising Manager

Recruit:  ASAP

National Support Staff Member

 

¨      Develops a merchandise line to be used for fundraising

¨      Makes recommendations to National Staff regarding the look and quality of designs

¨      Seeks out the best quality, lowest priced suppliers

¨      Negotiates contracts and makes recommendations to National Staff

¨      Places orders and monitors suppliers

¨      Reports to Assistant National Director of Fundraising

Regional Director:

Recruit:  ASAP

Regional Level Staff Member

 

¨      Manages an approximate 500 mile section of the route

¨      Refines the route plan

¨      Works with municipal, county and state DOT’s to secure permission and determine use fees and roadblock requirements, if any

¨      Determines approximately how many service centers will be needed

¨      Analyzes expenses and makes recommendations to the Executive Board 

¨      Recruits Area Directors

¨      Instructs Area Directors on all procedures for Route Management positions

¨      Oversees activities of all Area Directors

¨      Makes local public appearances on behalf of Hands and Hearts

¨      On Sept. 11, 2002 – Notifies Asst. Nat. Dir. Of Rt. Man. that his 500 mi. section is connected

¨      Reports to Assistant National Director of Route Management

 

ü      The salary for this position is negotiable and will be discussed at the time of the interview.   As with any position, this position can be filled by a volunteer.

 

Area Director:

Recruit: ASAP

Area Level Staff Member

 

¨      Manages a 50 mile section of the route

¨      Determines exactly how many and where service centers will be placed

¨      Recruits First Aid and Security Personnel

¨      Instructs First Aid and Security Personnel on their positions

¨      Secures First Aid supplies and Portable Bathroom rentals utilizing provided data

¨      Recruits Local Directors

¨      Instructs Local Directors on the procedures of all Route Management positions

¨      Oversees Local Directors

¨      On Sept. 11, 2002 – Notifies Regional Director that his 50 mi. section is connected

¨      Reports to Regional Director

 

ü      This is a volunteer position.

 

 

Local Director:

Recruit by Aug. 1, 2002

Local Level Staff Member

 

¨      Manages a 5 mile section of the route

¨      Recruits Mile Managers and Service Personnel

¨      Instructs Mile Managers and Service Personnel on the procedures for their positions

¨      Meets with Area Director to review Area Director’s provisions for his Locality

¨      Coordinates with Area Director on First Aid and Security Personnel

¨      Holds meetings to brief Local Support Staff and First Aid and Security Personnel on their responsibilities

¨      Oversees all Local Level Support Staff and First Aid and Security Personnel

¨      Sept. 10 – early Sept. 11: Oversees the following: 

¨      Set up of Service Centers

¨      Set up of Balloon route markers (every 1/8 mile)

¨      Set up of Roadblocks

¨      Sept. 11 : Oversees the following

¨      Ensures that Mile Managers are assisting participants to their spots

¨      Ensures that all participants are connected at designated time

¨      Notifies Area Director that his 5 mi. section is connected

¨      Reports to Area Director

 

v     Must be at least 16 years of age.

 

ü      This is a volunteer position.

 

Mile Manager:

Recruit by Aug. 21, 2002

Local Support Staff Member

 

¨      Manages ½ mile section of the route

¨      Helps set up designated area as directed by Local Director

¨      Assists participants to their spots in the line

¨      Ensures that all participants are connected at designated time

¨      Notifies Local Director that his ½ mi. section is connected

¨      Reports to Local Director

 

v     Must be at least 11 years of age, or have an adult partner.

 

ü      This is a volunteer position.

Service Personnel:

Recruit by Aug. 21, 2002

Local Support Staff Member

 

¨      Sets up Service Center prior to the event

¨      Manages Service Center during the event

¨      Completes sales of Hands and Hearts Merchandise

¨      Reports to Local Director

 

v     Must be at least 16 years of age.

 

ü      This is a volunteer position.

 

 

First Aid Personnel:

Recruit by Aug. 21, 2002

Local Support Staff Member

 

¨      Provides minor first aid to participants during the event

¨      Contacts Ambulance and EMT support, if necessary

¨      Reports to Area Director

 

v     Must be CPR and first aid certified.

 

ü      This is a volunteer position.

 

Security Personnel:

Recruit by August 21, 2002

Local Support Staff Member

 

¨      Provides security and crowd control during the event

¨      Reports to  Area Director

 

v     Must have experience in a related field.

 

ü      This is a volunteer position.

 

 

Advisory Board Member

Recruit:  ASAP

Support to National Level Staff

 

¨      Meets with Executive Board and other staff on a weekly basis

(Day and Time TBD)

¨      Reviews projects and proposals submitted by Executive Board and National Staff Members

¨      Submits suggestions to Executive Board to be taken under advisement

¨      The advisory board does not have voting privileges

Merchandise Salesperson

Recruit:  Anytime

Support to National Level Staff

 

¨      Contacts sales managers at sales@handsandhearts.org and requests startup packet.

¨      Take orders using the order form collect the money and then submit the orders to us.

¨      Receives the shipments and distributes them to the clients.
